Head to this rather fabulous complex at the northern end of Grande Anse's beach for a lovely waterside-eating experience. The food (a scrumptious assortment of fish dishes, exotic salads and barbecued meats) is of very high quality and the setting is magical. On Sundays it lays on an excellent lunch buffet (€28) and there's live music in the evening.
This gorgeous stretch of sand in front of Anse d'Arlet Bourg is backed by the village's 18th-century church and is one of the most lovely places to swim in Martinique. Further down there are a host of beach restaurants and bars, and it's rarely difficult to find your own spot on the plentiful golden sand.
Approximately halfway between Anse Mitan and Grande Anse, a secondary road peels off the D7 and plunges straight to Anse Dufour 2km below. You'll be smitten by the mellow tranquility of this fishing hamlet, which has a golden-sand beach and a handful of Creole restaurants, though it's well known to local day-trippers, who come here in droves on the weekend.
